Spelling
[edit]Why does the article (both title and text) have MacLane as one word when there seems to be no doubt that he spelt it as two? Does somebody know different, or is it okay if I move/change it? With appropriate redirection, obviously.... Cambyses 20:37, 20 May 2004 (UTC)
For "spelt" read "spells" if he is indeed still with us. Apologies! :-) Cambyses 20:40, 20 May 2004 (UTC)
Well, to answer this old question, he originally spelled it MacLane, but following a misprint in a journal, he liked the way it looked (or someone convinced him it was more authentic, I forget which, or both) and he decided to keep it that way. Think this story is in his selected works. --John Z 01:53, 27 May 2005 (UTC)
Introduction
[edit]The article describes Mac Lane as the co-founder of category theory. Does this make category theory the founder of Saunders Mac Lane? 91.189.202.154 (talk) 11:46, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
