Current requests for increase in protection level
[edit]Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Article is continously being created despite a recent deletion discussion. (Note: there is an ongoing WP:RfD for this page title, which is why WP:CSD#G4 is not being requested at this time. SSSB (talk) 06:58, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

Reason: The Wikipedia page for Bleona, an Albanian singer and entertainer, has been subjected to frequent edits and vandalism over the years, leading to concerns about the accuracy of the information presented. Due to the nature of Wikipedia being an open-source platform where anyone can contribute, there have been instances where individuals have deliberately changed key facts or introduced incorrect details, sometimes to mislead fans or tarnish the artist's reputation. These edits may include fabricated information or exaggerated claims, which can distort the public’s perception of Bleona's career and personal life.
The protection of the Bleona Wikipedia page has become necessary to prevent further harm caused by such misinformation. By restricting editing access to trusted contributors, Wikipedia can better ensure that the information about Bleona remains accurate and reliable. This protection helps safeguard fans from being misled and ensures that the page reflects the true nature of her achievements and contributions to music and entertainment. Given the high potential for misinformation on celebrity pages, such protective measures are critical for maintaining the integrity of Wikipedia as a resource and preventing the spread of false narratives that can damage public figures' reputations. Current requests for reduction in protection level
[edit]Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
[edit]Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
This, I think, is the first time I've made a suggestion. Hopefully, I'm doing this correctly.
The lateral fricative voiced retroflex, as an example, has an IPA representation of ɖɭ˔ according to its Wikipedia page, but the IPA Pulmonic table and other tables use the Unicode representation in the table and any font I have found just doesn't handle that character,
Would it be better to use the IPA representation which I think many fonts handle since the table has 'IPA' in its title and its link points to the Wikipedia page with both representations? The linked article each cell in the table states that the representation the IPA version and that the Unicode character is implied from that.
I'd be happy to make a list of each table and cell where this occurs if that is necessary and you think these will be worthwhile changes. BLWBebopKid (talk) 19:51, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- Pinging @Kwamikagami as they are likely to have some insight to these issues. For me personally, I'm not sure. I happen to have fonts installed that handle the extIPA symbols, but I'm in the stark minority there. Remsense ‥ 论 01:46, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- ExtIPA is IPA. It's just a specialized subset. For example, extIPA can be used in the 'Illustrations of the IPA' published in JIPA.
- The issue is one of font support. The letters in question date to 2015, though they weren't added to Unicode until 2021. There are websites that list fonts that support various characters. These are supported by the SIL fonts, which are the best free IPA fonts available. If you don't have a good font installed, you're not going to be able to view IPA correctly anyway. That's why we have the IPA notice in articles, that you may need to install an IPA font to view the article properly. — kwami (talk) 05:32, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

I would like to request that... (To follow up on the rejection of my previous edit request, my proposal is to shift the focus from the past to the present. We should stop referring to the Arameans as if they are no longer extant. When discussing the historical Arameans in the 'History' tab, please specify them as 'ancient Arameans.'
Additionally, the "Top" tab should be moved to the "History" tab, as it discusses the Arameans of antiquity.
Instead, the "Top" tab should include an introduction to the modern Arameans, such as the following:
---
- Modern Arameans**
The **Arameans** are an indigenous ethnic group native to the **Near East**, with their most prominent historical and cultural presence in **southeastern Turkey**, particularly in the **region of Tur Abdin**. Modern Arameans trace their cultural and historical lineage to the ancient Arameans, a Semitic people who originated in the Levant and rose to prominence during the first millennium BCE. The Arameans played a significant role in shaping the linguistic, cultural, and religious heritage of the Near East and Mesopotamia, particularly through the spread of the Aramaic language.[1][2]
Today, modern Arameans primarily identify with Christian communities, including the Syriac Orthodox, Syriac Catholic, and Maronite churches. Some Arameans also identify as Assyrians or Chaldeans based on ecclesiastical or regional distinctions, though all share linguistic and cultural roots connected to the ancient Arameans and their legacy.[3][4]
- Language and Cultural Legacy
The Aramaic language, introduced by the ancient Arameans, became the lingua franca of the Near East during the first millennium BCE and maintained its significance under various empires, including the Neo-Assyrian and Neo-Babylonian Empires. Today, **Neo-Aramaic dialects**, such as **Turoyo**, are spoken by Aramean communities, particularly in southeastern Turkey, northeastern Syria, and the diaspora. These dialects represent some of the oldest continuously spoken languages, with a rich literary and liturgical tradition still used in Christian rites.[5][6][7]
Aramaic has also influenced other languages, including Hebrew and Arabic, and played a pivotal role in cultural and religious exchanges in the ancient world. Its historical significance is highlighted by its use as the language spoken by Jesus, cementing its importance within Christian heritage.[8][9]
- Religious Identity
The modern Arameans are predominantly Christian, adhering to denominations that use Classical Syriac as a liturgical language. These include the **Syriac Orthodox Church**, the **Syriac Catholic Church**, and, to some extent, the **Maronite Church**. The Arameans were among the earliest groups to embrace Christianity, alongside Assyrians, Greeks, Armenians, and Nabataeans. Christianity remains a core aspect of Aramean identity and has profoundly shaped their cultural preservation over centuries.[10][11]
- Geographic Distribution and Modern Diaspora
The traditional homeland of the Arameans includes parts of modern-day southeastern Turkey (notably **Tur Abdin**), Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. Within Turkey, the monasteries and villages of Tur Abdin remain a vital center of Aramean cultural and religious life. Political instability, civil wars, and regional conflicts have forced many Arameans to migrate. Today, large diaspora communities exist in **Europe**, particularly in **Sweden**, **Germany**, and **the Netherlands**, as well as in **North America** and **Australia**.[12][13]
Despite these challenges, Arameans have remained active in preserving their identity, culture, and language. Neo-Aramaic language education, religious practices, and cultural advocacy are central to their efforts in maintaining their heritage in both their traditional homelands and diaspora.[14][15]
- Historical Challenges and Modern Advocacy
Aramean communities have faced numerous challenges throughout history, including forced displacement, assimilation pressures, and cultural erasure. During the early 20th century, the **Sayfo genocide** (1915–1917) led to the mass killing and displacement of Arameans, alongside other Christian minorities, during the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.[16][17]
More recently, the rise of extremist groups in **Syria** and **Iraq**, such as **ISIS**, has threatened the survival of Aramean communities in their traditional homelands. These groups have targeted Arameans and other minorities, leading to further displacement and endangerment of their cultural heritage.[18][19]
In response, Aramean advocacy organizations have worked to preserve their language, culture, and history. This includes efforts to gain recognition as a distinct ethnic group in countries such as Sweden and Israel, where significant Aramean communities exist. Additionally, restoration of historical monuments, documentation of their cultural practices, and promotion of Neo-Aramaic education are integral to these preservation efforts.[20][21]

I see that there is a large backlog, so I would like to help reduce it, especially the redirects, as I have more experience with them. I have not created any articles, but I have read the tutorials for NPR and related pages, so I will not make any unintentional (or intentional) detrimental edits. I would like to become an NPR to help reduce the work, I regularly intervene on drafts and edit them to format them and put banners or comments to advise the creator on the steps to follow so that this draft becomes eligible, in the case that it is possible. Requesting NPR rights; Nearly 2700 total live edits. While I am familiar with AfC and article creation (three articles under my name, working on a fourth), I am admittedly not terribly familiar with AfD, PROD, or CSD. However, I am reading and re-reading these pages to familiarize myself. I believe I have a favorable history of interaction. I've been on Wikipedia for over a decade, and I have absorbed much, though I still have a significant amount to learn; that being said, I wish to become more active and more directly-involved. No behavioral blocks or 3RR violations. I commit to 'patrol' on a voluntary basis and to avoid conflicts of interest. Thank you for your time and consideration! Hello! I am requesting again for New Page Reviewer, although quite fast but I am a fast lerner. I just wanna have a trial here since I am helping sometimes in NewPagesFeed like maintenance tags like {{unreferenced}}, {{orphan}} and {{uncategorized}} or rarely i clean up the articles too, it just a minor helps. I am a AfC reviewer too since October 2024. I can multitasking on New Page and reviewing draft articles in afc. Although, I have a blocked here but it was a misunderstanding and false blocking so they unblock my account. I am participating on AfD and sometimes i nominate it, also on CSD too in NewPageFeed, if I see a just a spam, vandalism or a promotion of a article, i immediately add a csd. If you granted me, it will my pleasure. Thanks! Royiswariii Talk! 16:20, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I'd love to help out with the backlog. I have around ~40 AfD !votes, and I'm usually one of the first votes and always use strong guideline-backed reasoning. I've only had 1 AfD in the "red" cell of AfD Stats, that was a bio of a person from a non-English speaking country, and I tried to find sources in my WP:BEFORE, but nothing come up, and then another user more familiar with that country was able to dig something up so I withdrew (I don't think it should count as a black mark against me). I've also reviewed a lot of AfC submissions (a good amount of them sadly don't show in the AfC tool as they were later deleted, but there's still a decent chunk in there), and I almost always provide personalized advice backed with good reasoning when declining. You can find my CSD log here (n. 10, 100% success): User:MolecularPilot/CSD_Log, and I've also created 5 articles (see my user page), 4 of which are B class. I've read and understood WP:RPC and will proceed slowly at first (that is, leave what I deem edge cases to someone else). JayCubby Talk 17:23, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Requests for rollback |

Rollback[edit]
My next logical request for permission, one that I don't suppose I can utilize alongside Ultraviolet to stop the bad faith one-timers and vandals where I watch. Although, I must admit, I should simultaneously take care to not get into any content dispute I see; I'll do my best not to get into one this way. Thanks for considering (again). 2601AC47 (talk·contribs·my rights) Isn't a IP anon 01:40, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
I would like rollback permissions to make fighting vandalism quicker and easier. I have been reverting vandalism for over 1 month and have experience with tools such as Twinkle and Ultraviolet. I would also like to be able to have access to Huggle to make my anti-vandalism experience easier. MouseCursor (talk) 13:46, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
I would like to be able to access rollback tools to fight vandalism more effectively, I am familiar with Wikipedia's rules. SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 17:17, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
Would be used for reverting edits by blocked socks of banned users, similar to this request nableezy - 20:38, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
This permission will help me in combating vandalism. I’ve been actively patrolling recent changes, always warning users when necessary, assuming good faith, and taking full responsibility for all my edits. I also do crosswiki patrolling and recently joined the SWMT. — Jet Pilot (talk) 21:03, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
I am here to reapply for rollback permissions to assist in combating vandalism more efficiently. Over time, I have actively reverted vandalism using the "undo" tool and have familiarized myself with Wikipedia's policies, particularly vandalism and rollback.I fully understand that rollback should only be used for clear cases of vandalism, and I am committed to using the tool responsibly. My contributions reflect my dedication to maintaining Wikipedia's quality and integrity.If there are any concerns or further clarification needed regarding my request, please let me know. Thank you for considering my request.MP1999 ❯❯❯ Talk 11:03, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
Hello! I had been actively patrolling RC in 2023 but paused for a long time since I was too busy. I plan to resume soon and would like rollback rights to make it easier. Note from 07:07, 6 December 2024 (UTC): I had just been informed that RedWarn can be used on a school computer, so it's very likely that I will be using it. xRozuRozu • teacups 23:57, 5 December 2024 (UTC)

"Do you want to take a survey?"
[edit]On Feb. 12, 2005, I did a random pages survey. Out of 100 random pages, only 1 was a U.S. town. That's progress. Three towns in the UK, 1 in Spain and 1 in Portugal also turned up. Overall biographies were the largest category at 22%, followed by geography with 15% total. Then Lists at 7%, Disambiguation pages at 6%.
On Feb. 24, 2006, I repeated the 100 random page survey, this time getting 5 U.S. towns. Overall, geography had 26%, biography 21%, fiction 9%, music 4%, colleges 4%, lists 3% and disambigs 4%. Clearly geography and biography are our largest areas. Music, science and business scored less than I expected. Non-individual History was hardly discernable.
Even by Feb. 2005, 100 out of almost 500,000 was not statistically significant but was as much as I had patience for.
