New York
Thanks. :-) Do you live in NYC? djmutex 15:38 12 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Yes, I do. And thanks for adding the photo. Cjmnyc 16:48 12 Jul 2003 (UTC)
At least I got the court's address right, it seems. :-) Wasn't so sure. I just spent a couple of weeks vacationing in NYC and took more than 1,000 pictures, so I'll probably add a few more in the future. What an amazing city, really... it was my third time there, but it was the first time that I really could take a closer look. So if you have some suggestions what pages might need some work, I'm listening. – Are you working in the legal field? djmutex 00:10 13 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Yes, I'm a lawyer. I'm very new to Wikipedia, but I seem to be turning into an addict. I've been writing mostly about things I know: legal topics, the New York courts, lower Manhattan, etc. There are a lot of neighborhood links from the Manhattan page that need work or could use some photos. I was planning to take some photos today for the Little Italy, Nolita and Puck Building pages that I created, but I didn't get around to it before sunset. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. If you already have photos that would be useful for those pages, please feel free to post them. Cjmnyc 00:42 13 Jul 2003 (UTC)
- Hehe, I know that addictive feeling. I haven't been around that long either, but I've already hit the top 200. Anyway, the best I have to offer about Little Italy is Image:Nyc-little-italy.jpg (which I don't consider my best work, so if you can find the time to take a better shot...). While I was at it, I uploaded my favorite NYC traffic sign, which I found in Chinatown (Image:Nyc-dont-even-think-of-parking-here.jpg). Note the Chinese translation and the parking cars below. I'll probably have to upload another version that isn't scaled down as much to make it readable. – Oh, and I'm glad to have found a collegue. :-) djmutex 01:11 13 Jul 2003 (UTC)
- I added your Little Italy picture to the Little Italy page. Thanks. I'll try to shoot the Nolita pics tomorrow. I live there, so I have no excuse to be lazy. Cjmnyc 02:07 13 Jul 2003 (UTC)
- Sorry, nothing about Nolita or Puck Building in my collection it seems. djmutex 01:40 13 Jul 2003 (UTC)
I added Woolworth Building, hoping that I got the facts right. Maybe you can take a look? djmutex 12:55 16 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Djmutex: It looks fine to me as far as I know, but I haven't fact-checked it. -- Cjmnyc 02:22 17 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Saw the redudant Manhattan/New York County/Manhattan, New York pages on your to-do list and remembered that I stumbled across them several times too. I have taken Staten Island, New York as a model and merged them all. If you think this was not a good idea, drop me a note. djmutex 19:27, 29 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- Thanks; good job. I did some rearranging to put all the geographical info in one place on the page. -- Cjmnyc 01:21, 31 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Yes, much better this way. Thanks. Now only three boroughs left with the same duplications. :-) djmutex 12:36, 31 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- Actually, only two. Someone else already took care of Queens/Queens County. -- Cjmnyc 06:02, 3 Sep 2003 (UTC)

WikiProject New York City
Hello, some of us have started WikiProject New York City, and from your edits it seems you might be interested. See its talk page for discussions on the standardization of neighborhood names and subway lines and stations, and bringing New York City up to featured status.--Pharos 22:15, 6 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Hiya. I don't know if you were part of the debate some time ago about capitalisation and bird entries. But as you are a new member you may not know - that issue has been the subject of the mother of all edit wars between those who insist on following American english capitalisation (which lowercases most things) and British/International english capitalisation (which uppercases a lot of things). Peace sort of broke out when it was decided to let the people creating all the entries (and whom almost all followed BE) do their thing and to avoid decapitalising their work at all costs. As a European with like most Europeans a dislike of American English (most particularly its constant lower-casing of things that we are always taught must be uppercased) I have a lot of sympathy for their stance but as I know nothing about the topic I kept well away. I just noticed you lowercasing things and found myself wondering if you were part of Tannin's team and were just putting on some more references, or whether you had stumbled across a lot of things in upper case and decided to lowercase them. If the latter, you've done the wiki equivalent of Saddam Hussein strolling into the Pentagon!!! If I was you I'd re-capitalise them very very quickly, then change your name and fly to a peaceful place like Liberia, Kabul, Baghdad! Because they would be heaven compared to the world war that will erupt if the Aussie team of bird people find that someone again has begun decapitalising their months of work.
But then maybe you are one of these people doing all the birdly entries. But if no . . . woooo man, back off, you've just pulled the pin out of the mother of all wiki handgranades. Put them back the way they were, walk away very quicky, and if anyone asks, deny deny deny. "Twasn't me, honest, no, I never touched your birds, honest!!!" There are a few really touchy topics on wiki and capitalisation is one. Applying American English spelling and capitalisation to British English articles and titles is like declaring World War III! :-) lol. And I'll pray for your wiki soul when the screaming hordes of Aussi wikians, boom in unison "whose been touching our bird capitalisation again? But I'd take out medical ensurance just to be on the safe side. :-) PS: I'm only half exaggurating. But downcaping birds on wiki is . . . . oh . . . so . . . em . . . brave. lol FearÉIREANN 05:27, 12 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- Thanks for the warning. Maybe I'll be spared the wrath of the bird people, because the pages that I changed deal with insects, not birds. Before touching any of these, I looked around on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Tree of Life page, and on the talk pages about the particular entries, and didn't see anything unusual about capitalization. But I failed to look at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (capitalization), where I would have recognized the reference to an "agreed policy" about animal capitalization in the last paragraph as a dead giveaway that there was a controversy over this. I will go back and revert my changes in the next day or so, if someone else hasn't beaten me to it. -- Cjmnyc 20:56, 12 Aug 2003 (UTC)
May the Lord have mercy on your wiki soul!!! :-) Yeah wiki can be a bureaucratic nightmare sometimes but AV versus BE, and capitalisation are our big edit war point. FearÉIREANN 21:19, 12 Aug 2003 (UTC)
OK, the Emperor Dragonfly and the Black-tailed Skimmer have now been restored to their capitali(z/s)ed British glory. -- Cjmnyc 05:27, 13 Aug 2003 (UTC)
"The Indian Trade"
Please don't list "The Indian Trade" on you user page as an article title. If it were the title of a novel it would make sense. It is a redirect page. The inclusion of the word "The" in the title is weird and the capitalization of the "T" in "Trade" is incorrect according to Wikipedia:Manual of Style. In the course of fixing the links to that redirect page, I actually found a link to The Frontier, with the initial "T" capitalized in the middle of a sentence, and the "F" capitalized, which, judging from the context should have read "the [frontier]] with the word "the" OUTSIDE the link and lower-case initials. The effect was to point to a disambiguation page about a movie called The Frontier and a political group in Hong Kong called The Frontier. That's the sort that can happen when conventions are not heeded. (I also found a link to The White House with the word "The" rather strangely capitalized and also rather strangely placed INSIDE the link, but I didn't follow it to see if it's the title of a novel or a movie or the like.) Michael Hardy 23:44, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
That was the title of the existing page when I first listed it on my user page. I have removed it from my user page. Cjmnyc 20:41, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Request to move article Temple of Sun incomplete
You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Temple of Sun to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.
Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:
- Added NewName at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
- Added to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
- Added to the top of today's section here.
If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 05:06, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
