[edit]The Grauniad says Walters was born on July 11 1939; The Beeb says 1938; another site says May 16, 1938. I am confused. --rbrwrˆ
- Over four years later, I'm still confused. A poster on the Yahoo! Groups [peel] group [1] has a tape of John Peel's Top Gear show for 11 July 1970 in which Peel sings "Happy Birthday" to Walters, suggesting that the date we give (16 May) is wrong. --rbrwr± 09:25, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, Ken Garner (author of The Peel Sessions ISBN 9781846072826) confirmed 11 July 1939 in a message to the Peel Yahoo group. [2]. It's probably not acceptable as an in-article reference, but worth noting here. --rbrwr± 16:38, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
