Getting involved

Okay, so sometimes I don't understand something about WikiPedia, and I find that not all of the documentation is easy to find. For example the score-like thingies on an article's history page, what do they mean? And what are all the badges I could put on an article? It would be useful to have someone who I can ask about these things.
