Lyrics
[edit]Does anyone know the copyright issues associated with posting lyrics? Dave 23:57, Mar 13, 2005 (UTC)
- I have a feeling that it's public domain since it's thus far been posted and distributed freely. --Kuronekoyama 19:24, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
- That's complete nonsense. Read public domain and copyright. I've removed the lyrics. ed g2s • talk 22:28, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
- Quit doing that! Removing lyrics is what's nonsense.
- Removing the lyrics is nonsense, present a copyright note if you want to remove them Jackcall 12:38, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Martha
[edit]I presume the 'Martha' referred to in the song isn't the biblical figure the article currently links to. I don't know who it does refer to though so I haven't changed it. Thryduulf 01:18, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Needs citations
[edit]I would like to have citations for the following information contained in the article:
- the original fine for saying "fuck" on the radio -- this article could use more information about the event, but it certainly wants a citation
- the quote "...it's dedicated to the FCC and if they broadcast it, it will cost a quarter of a million dollars" and the calculation
- the "numerous anti-Bush websites" linking to or mirroring the song: obviously not a full list, but maybe cite 3 or 4 prominent sites doing so, or cite an article in the news mentioning the phenomenon
- the statement about "I Bet You They Won't Play This Song On The Radio" that "many programmers did indeed play that song on the radio": again, not a list of every station that has played the song, but a reference for this statement
Anyone who can provide sources, please do so. --Tetraminoe 06:55, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- the quote is in Idle's section at the Python website; edited accordingly Rotring 01:27, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
Family Guy
[edit]Family Guy also has a pretty popular, unrelated song about the FCC in the episode PTV. I believe it's better known since one can see it on television, whereas Eric Idle's FCC Song is less accessible to the general public. Should this be noted? - furrykef (Talk at me) 17:50, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
FCC pun?
[edit]So is it coincidence or intended that the FCC song is centered on the word 'fuck', which sounds like FCC pronounced as an actual word instead of an acronym. Just a thought, especially because of the witty subliminal Monty Python element. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.75.187.195 (talk) 06:38, 10 February 2007 (UTC).
Correct Title?
[edit]Is it officially called "FCC Song" OR "Fuck the FCC"? Both Allmusic and Amazon list it as the latter. Should the page title be changed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kane2742 (talk • contribs)
- I don't know. I think the former is more widely understood and therefore suitable under WP:UCN. But by all means create a redirect from Fuck the FCC. Powers T 13:16, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
