Lack of NPOV and RS, for Early life, and bits of porn career sections
[edit]All of the sources/basis for what is written in the Early life section, as well as large parts of the section on her porn career, are purely based on Traci Lords' own biography or interviews. They have no third-party verification. Nothing to state that any of it is true, and that she didn't either completely make up, exaggerated, tone down, or otherwise change/add anything to it. (or omit vital details) All of it is what she has claimed, after being caught by the FBI, having done under-age porn.
Maybe her story is (at least mostly) true
…or maybe, having been exposed by the FBI, and not wanting to get in massive trouble (getting most/all of her possessions confiscated, jail-time, being shunned/despised by everyone…) for having intentionally/wilfully performed identity theft, lied to everyone to scammed her way into porn, intentionally making child porn etc, she created a story about having been drugged and forced, with a whole bit about a troubled rape-and-drug-filled past, to make it extra credible.
…or maybe something else, entirely.
There is no clear evidence, either way.
(though I find it strange that no one, of the great number of bosses, managers, photographers, porn actor, nude models or other people who she was in contact with, in the porn industry, confirmed any of her claims of being drugged and forced to do porn. Granted, you can say that the bosses and such wouldn't want to admit to their own guilt, and the actors/models were under their thumb and thus didn't dare talk …but not a single one, when there were that many people? Not even to this day? …but that isn't proof, of course)
Having Lords' story in the article could be okay …but only if it is stated, that it is purely her, unverified, claims.--82.196.111.241 (talk) 20:28, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
- More to the point, she went from a drugged sex abuse victim to graduating from a school for method actresses in just a few months?
- I'm not buying it. Not even at 50% off. Not even if they throw in the ginsu knives. Dstar3k (talk) 08:54, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

[edit]I question whether additional citations are necessary for this article. It seems cluttered. What information is missing? Junius Cursus (talk) 20:42, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
Proper true name/surname use in article
[edit]The article lead in is framed using Traci Lords as a stage name per MOS:PSEUDONYM then uses her birth surname, Kuzma, as the primary referent to her only in the Early Life section, using "Lords" in all other places.
I'd propose changing all "Kuzma" references to be "Lords" as it's the name she clearly uses publicly, and it's consistent with the rest of the article. If no one argues against, I'll do that in a week or so; if someone doesn't like it at that point, they can revert and I won't be upset.
There's a reasonable argument that she uses Traci Lords as her true name, as given to various biographers, etc. I'd support reformatting more in line with that as well (akin to Elton John's article). Lightweight research doesn't find any birth or marriage records to give true name, and I'm not up for digging deeper, so I don't have a strong argument in favor of this approach. - Just noticed that Elizabeth Berkley's article treats "Elizabeth Berkley" as the true name, even thought it notes that she's changed her name to Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, but continues to use her maiden name professionally. This argues for the reframing above. I'll do it in two steps so it's easy to revert if someone cares. TrivialJim (talk) 20:16, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
