Easy to get facts
[edit]Should be easy enough to get facts for this band, just google for "Dinosaur Jr". I came up with a fan site that had lots of facts and dates at http://tinpan.fortunecity.com/newreed/336/bio.html - and Google shows plenty more sites as well. - Logotu 19:58 4 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Redundant
[edit]I'm sorry--"equally on par"? Isn't that redundant? --Domukaz — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.30.19.174 (talk) 12:14, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- That's correctly right. I fixed it. .msbmsb 16:22, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

- Support but it has to be said that the site is inconsistent, e.g. Mailing List and News use "Jr." and "Jr". However, since the HTML <title> tag uses "Dinosaur Jr", I see no reason to oppose. --Lox (t,c) 15:56, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- Support - seems fine to me since that's the way most people would type it in and that's the way my t-shirts read, but it's very true that it's not consistent anywhere, not on the merchandise, cds, website, etc. Seems like a non-issue to me, really. .msbmsb 00:12, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the move from Dinosaur Jr. to Dinosaur Jr - ALL the CDs (including the latest greatest hits and reissues) I own have it with the period. I think the CDs should be authoritative, when in doubt. Besides, surely it's correct english to have that period, anyway? --Gecks 08:20, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Regarding the above discussion, Dinosaur Jr. DOES have a period, officially stated by the band and management. There have been inconsistencies over the years but we are taking measures to correct this. You may contact management for verification.--BleemusicAmy — Preceding undated comment added 18:17, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- I also would like to see this corrected. It should have a period. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Averyisland (talk • contribs) 23:17, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Verb number
[edit]Okay: Let's establish the tense for the intro. "were", "gained", and other past-tense words appear, even though the first sense states "Dinosaur Jr is an American alternative rock band". Notice, for example, that the Nirvana page states that Nirvana "was" an American rock band. Which is it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.165.87.40 (talk) 15:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- With regards to the above query about tense it is correct to say "Nirvana was an American rock band". Purely because it is a single entity, a rock band, and not a group of people. And can anyone back up that J Mascis was asked to play drums for Nirvana? This seems wrong to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.178.154.4 (talk) 04:06, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
New Album?
[edit]On May 1 2007, the original members of Dinosaur Jr are expected to release their first album of new material together since Bug. The album will be released on Fat Possum Records and is titled Beyond. It will be the first album by the original line up in 19 years. This should probabl be fixed. Billy Bishop 02:13, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Bug/Green Mind
[edit]I remember that with one of these albums, Mascis wrote and recorded most of the tracks in a few days to complete the album - does anyone remember which, with a ref if possible? Thanks.--Michig 13:46, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- Azerrad's book mentions that Green Mind was largely the work of Mascis alone, so I assume it was that one. WesleyDodds 00:43, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Weren't all of the albums, from Green Mind until the hiatus, pretty much just J? DFS (talk) 10:15, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

page class
[edit]After extensive revisions & work by good writers and people who know the facts about the band, this page was promoted to B-class by an administrator (CloudNine) who has also made significant contributions to other pages of the same genre. Please do not change to to 'start' as it does not belong there. thank you.

not grunge
[edit]please see here as to why Dinosaur should not be classfied with grunge. They developed outside of the Seattle scene and predated virtually all of it. Arleach (talk) 02:12, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Discussion
[edit]- Support - Hard to find consistency, but it seems that most official sources have it. Davewho2 (talk) 01:27, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Support - but, the Powers that Be say there is no 'secondary source' and that the Azerrad book is Gospel. A video I plan on getting of them saying as such will come in July. Arleach (talk) 04:23, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Support. We'll never get a final answer about this, but it seems like the band and management might have changed their minds about the period since the Gosepl according to Azerrad was published. CloudNine (talk) 11:03, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Major Label Years
[edit]This section seems to have a huge gap in it. There is very little discussion of the band during the post Where You Been era, which seems like a time when the band started to chip into the mainstream. No mention of the Lollapalooza tour? And who was the second guitar player at that time (the only time I saw DinoJr. as a four piece) ??? I will look into this, but others, please contribute. DFS (talk) 10:10, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Opening paragraph
[edit]Originally called Dinosaur, prior to legal issues that forced the group to change their name, the band disbanded in 1997 until reuniting in 2005.
This sentence is confusing. Were the disbanding and the legal issue related? Thmazing (talk) 23:08, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
Timeline
[edit]There is something wrong with the timeline at the moment, as it has weird diagonal lines on it, but I am afraid I don't know how to fix that. Could anyone lend a hand, please? Thank you. Oulipal (talk) 16:55, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
"Feel the Pain" not even mentioned?
[edit]Unless I missed it..no mention of the only song people remember 25 years later? Their biggest hit? No charting numbers for it? -S — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:642:4101:4167:40AE:1F73:64E6:AD1 (talk) 18:56, 6 December 2016 (UTC)

Fossils?
[edit]Hi, I knew Dinosaur Jr a while ago, as it was one of the influence of Nirvana, but I’ve been listening their music on Youtube recently, like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaEi-8FYLeg, so I wonder, isn’t there an album called Fossils? I can’t see it in the discography in the page. Isn’t it missing? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.199.163.170 (talk) 17:42, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- Fossils is actually a compilation album so it's not included in the discography section in this page. It is included in the discography page. ZigZogg (talk) 04:17, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
