Hello Rimshot and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- To sign your posts (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).
- Try the Tutorial, and feel free to experiment in the test area.
- If you need help, post a question at the Help Desk
- Follow the Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset
- Eventually, you might want to read the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
- Remember Wikipedia:Neutral point of view
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Good luck!

- RBD: La Familia? I'll look over it when it's done :) --Rimshots 18:47, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Cleanup templates
[edit]Best not to subst these (merge, wikify, cleanup, orphan, notability). See WP:SUBST for details. Rich Farmbrough, 21:18 22 January 2007 (GMT).
- Hm, I'm always getting confused as to subst:'ing or not subst:'ing. Thanks. Rimshots 23:59, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your translation work
[edit]Hi, thank you very much for working on the Hannes Lintl; with some additional cleanup translation that is now done and I'm now removing this article's entry from the page with requests for translation. Thanks, and happy editing! - Introvert • ~ 04:16, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
assessment
[edit]I have now rated the article a "B", but I think it could be rated higher. Why don't you go through the Wikipedia:Good article candidates process? Agathoclea 19:02, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'll have a look at it, thanks. --Rimshots 10:57, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Image taken from my website and labeled public domain by someone unknown to me
[edit]Hi Rimshots, regarding the message you sent (copied below) I wanted to remove the notice declaring the image taken from my website as public domain. The image was posted without my permission or that of my friend who took the picture. Not that I mind fair use of the image, it's just that it is not for anyone to declare it public domain. Opus224 14:04, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Your message:
Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed maintenance notices from Image:LAV300.jpg, even though required changes haven't been made. If you are uncertain whether the page requires further work, or if you disagree with the notice, please discuss these issues on the page's talk page before removing the notice from the page. These notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of a page. Thank you. --Rimshots 10:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- You probably forgot to log in, at least the image was edited by an anonymous editor. The reason why I reverted your edits is that you removed both the public domain and the copyright violation notice. The latter notice already says that there might be a problem with the image. If you do have the rights to the image, you can of course ask for it to be taken down. The best way to do that is to leave the image and add a note to the deletion discussion, which you already did, as I see. I also fixed the link for you.
- As the copyright holder, which I presume you are, you now have three options that I can think of:
- Wait for the image to be taken down (which shouldn't really take long, as there is a copyvio notice on it)
- Request immediate removal.
- Give the image a license that suits you, for example a Creative Commons licenses. In that case, you should of course take down the copyvio tag (which you added, so it is fair play), and add a note on the deletion discussion.
- Best regards, --Rimshots 19:15, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
The catagory conspiracy that I created is not needed. I must have mistyped something looking for the catagory or something.Scottprovost 07:25, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Deletion tags
[edit]When you have an uncontroversially empty category, you can just tag it with "{{db|empty}}" and it will go right into Category:Candidates for speedy deletion. Anybody who sees the empty tag will just delete it. Hope that helps!--Mike Selinker 14:32, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- Seems like a natural way to do that, thanks --Rimshots 14:40, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Ribnitz-Damgarten GA failed
[edit]I have failed the article according to the GA criteria. Please look over my comments on the talk page and consider renominating once they are addressed. Good job so far and keep up the good work. --Nehrams2020 19:37, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the review, I was afraid it might not be broad enough. --rimshotstalk 20:23, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, image patroller
[edit]Thank you so much for patrolling the image namespace with me. I've been patrolling every anonymous edit to that namespace for about two weeks now, and am appalled at all of the blatant or misleading tests or vandalism that slip through without us watching. I wonder if there is some way we can split up the task. Maybe we could set times of day to which we are responsible to patrol, so we only have to do half of the edits. How does that sound to you? I live in the North American Eastern Time Zone (UTC-4 or 5); I am generally on Wikipedia between 17:00 and 05:00 UTC. —BazookaJoe 17:09, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's nice to see that you noticed my work. I am generally active between 8:00 and 16:00 UTC (I'm on Central European Summer Time UTC+2, at the moment), so I think the division of time should happen quite naturally. I don't really want to be "responsible" for patrolling any edits - I can never say wether I'll have the time or whether I'll be in the mood for doing stuff on wikipedia. Best regards, --rimshotstalk 11:17, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Oye, what did those kids try to edit? I wanna know so I can go crack some skulls. Thanks.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.102.23.122 (talk • contribs) 15:10, 2007 May 25 (UTC)
- You can find all edits from that address by clicking the link User contributions on the talk page. No need for cracking skulls, however - the IP address will be probably blocked on the next instance of vandalism anyway. --rimshotstalk 15:29, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hiya. Yes I took all those pictures myself. Should I be adding that I took them in addition to my comments? Or is there a space where the author's name can be entered? Thanks. --Sidmeister78
- Hi again. I've started using Wikimedia Commons just now. I've also uploaded Taylor Pyatt using Commons. Please see if the picture & the comments are compliant. Thanks. --Sidmeister78 —Preceding comment was added at 04:54, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Looks good, the image descriptions are fine, and the pictures are really stunning. --rimshotstalk 12:24, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comments. It's always nice to hear feedback on my pictures. Not bad for pictures taken with a regular digital camera. And thanks again for checking the summaries. I've put them in for the other picutres that I've uploaded. --Sidmeiser78 —Preceding comment was added at 21:48, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Orphaned non-free image File:Patterson–Gimlin film frame 352.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Patterson–Gimlin film frame 352.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 01:58, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
