Definition
[edit]FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) is a technology for electric power transmission defined by the IEEE as "a power electronic based system and other static equipment that provide control of one or more ac transmission system parameters to enhance controllability and increase power transfer capability."

[edit]I don't know anything about FACTS. I was just trying to learn something from this webpage. The table at the following URL lists STATCOM against voltage control: shunt compensation. But, your above note says that shunt compensation acts as a controllable current source. https://concert-2.siemens.com/performer/product/main?catalogId=&selectedItem=K1649&lang=en&prod_name=KN03011201&cmid=1&showNodeDetails=127225&point=&prod_id=14901&boxinbox=true
